The kickoff of the new football season now has a date and time. According to Vandal, EA Sports FC 27 will open its doors in early access on September 18 for anyone who has bought the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions, with up to seven days' head start over the general launch of the Standard Edition, set for September 25.
The detail that causes the most confusion every year is the clock: PC and consoles don't unlock the same way. On PC the release is simultaneous worldwide at 23:00 UTC on September 17, while on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch the doors open at 00:00 on the 18th according to each country's local time. For a team like ours, with people playing from Madrid to Buenos Aires, that difference matters, and a lot.

What you need to know
- Early access: from September 18 for the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions, up to seven days before the general launch.
- Standard Edition: arrives on September 25 for everyone.
- PC: simultaneous worldwide unlock at 23:00 UTC on September 17, that is, 01:00 on Thursday the 18th in mainland Spain and 00:00 in the Canary Islands.
- Consoles: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and Switch 2 unlock at 00:00 on September 18 in each country's local time.
- The base information comes from Vandal, which includes a breakdown by Spanish-speaking country.
Two different clocks: why PC and consoles don't line up
The logic is simple, but it's worth getting straight. On PC, EA sets a single universal time (23:00 UTC) and each region converts it to its own time zone. That means in Europe the game opens in the small hours, while in the Americas it will arrive over the course of the afternoon and evening of Wednesday the 17th, with more or less leeway depending on the country. On consoles, by contrast, the unlock is "at local midnight," so everyone starts at the same time on their own clock, even though the absolute moments differ.
Translated to our community: a PC player in Mexico or Colombia will see the unlock at a far more comfortable local hour than their squadmate in Spain, who will have to wait until 01:00. On console it's the other way around: the European gets in first and the Americans trickle in as midnight sweeps across the continent.
| Platform | Unlock rule | Time in Spain |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Simultaneous worldwide, 23:00 UTC on September 17 | 01:00 on the 18th (mainland), 00:00 on the 18th (Canary Islands) |
| PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2 | 00:00 on September 18 in each country's local time | 00:00 on September 18 |
Editions, perks and the price of getting in first
The launch structure is no different from what we already know: whoever pays for the most expensive edition plays first. Seven days of early access is a full week in which Ultimate and Ultimate Plus buyers can explore the modes, get a feel for the gameplay and, above all, start building a squad and a competitive rhythm before the majority comes in on the 25th. In a game where each installment's learning curve makes a difference in the first few weeks, that margin is not trivial.
For content creators, the window from the 18th to the 25th is practically exclusive territory: first impressions, mechanics guides and launch streams all pile up in those days, and anyone without the Ultimate edition arrives late to the conversation.
Our take
From the Underworld Lordz editorial desk we'll say it straight: the "pay more to play sooner" model is now standard practice in the series and doesn't look like it's going anywhere, but we still don't see it as entirely fair to the competitive player. A week's head start in a title where early practice translates into real performance is not a mere cosmetic extra; it's a difference at the starting line between those who can afford the premium edition and those who can't. For those of us who play as a squad, it also means the team doesn't kick off the season at the same time, with part of the roster already warmed up while the rest have only just installed the game.
The upside is that, at least on PC, the simultaneous worldwide launch removes any arguments: one time, one moment, and the whole Spanish-speaking community jumps in together, with Europe not having to envy the Americas or the other way around. On console the local-time unlock is easier on your sleep, sure, but it breaks that simultaneity and means the community's first clips and first rankings come out in staggered fashion.
Practical tip: if you're going to play on PC from Europe, get ready for a long night or accept that people in the Americas will be posting before you. If you're on console, coordinate everyone's local time with your squad before planning the first group stream. And if you're buying the Standard, don't despair: on September 25 the pitch will be just as open, even if others have had a week to warm up.
