Playground Games has once again stepped in to clear up the doubts: the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 will be released this year. As reported by Eurogamer Spain, the British studio has restated that commitment, a message that is no accident when it comes to a series that for years was an Xbox exclusive flagship and is now opening up to Sony's console.
When a studio has to repeat a promise, it usually means two things: there is noise around the date, and the PS5 audience is paying attention. For the Underworld Lordz community, spread across the Americas and Europe and with plenty of drivers on PlayStation, this confirmation matters because it directly affects where and when we will all be able to compete on the same tarmac.

What you need to know
- Playground Games reiterates that Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on PlayStation 5 this year, as reported by Eurogamer Spain.
- This is not the first time the studio has said so: the insistence is a response to the uncertainty that has built up around that version.
- The source gives no specific date or technical details for the PS5 edition, so any exact day doing the rounds on social media is speculation.
- The Horizon series has already stopped being exclusive territory for Xbox and PC, and this entry cements that shift in strategy.
The end of a line that seemed set in stone
For a long time, talking about Forza meant talking about Xbox. The Horizon series, with its open world, its festivals and its more arcade-leaning approach compared to Motorsport, was one of the strongest selling points of Microsoft's ecosystem. Playground publicly and repeatedly committing to bringing the sixth entry to PS5 confirms that Xbox's policy of publishing its major brands on rival platforms is not a one-off experiment, but a roadmap.
What is interesting here is the tone. When a studio insists, it is because it feels the need to clear up doubts. That could be down to rumours of a delay, confusing readings of earlier statements, or simply the PlayStation audience not quite believing it will get a Forza without waiting months or years. Playground has decided to shut that conversation down, though without putting a date on the table, at least according to what Eurogamer Spain reports.

What changes for drivers and creators
For anyone who competes, the key lies in the size and health of the player base. A Forza Horizon 6 that reaches PS5 in the same year as the other platforms opens the door to fuller lobbies, more high-level rivals and a livelier online events scene. If the game also includes cross-platform play, something the source does not confirm and which we therefore do not take for granted, the difference between playing on Xbox, PC or PlayStation would fade almost entirely.
For content creators, the equation is even clearer. A simultaneous or closely timed launch means the peak of interest is concentrated in a single window. Streamers and YouTubers in the Spanish-speaking community who work with a PlayStation audience will not have to choose between covering the game late or asking their viewers to wait. That translates into more views, more clips and, above all, more shared conversation.
Our take
Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom we are glad Playground is taking a stand, but we are left with a bittersweet feeling. Repeating that the game will arrive this year is fine; however, without a specific date, the promise remains a headline rather than a guarantee. Teams like ours, planning internal tournament calendars, streams and content, need something more solid than a repeated this year. Every week of silence is a week of uncertainty for those of us organising activities with our community.
It also has to be said plainly: if the PS5 version arrives in the same year but later than Xbox and PC, the community will be split during that gap. For a driving game with a strong social and competitive component, that lag weighs heavily. Our drivers on PlayStation deserve to start the season at the same time as everyone else, with the same car lists, the same events and the same chances to climb the leaderboards.
Even so, the heart of the news is positive. A series of this calibre committing to PS5 repeatedly shows that exclusives are no longer the only way to compete in the industry. For a Spanish-speaking team with members across several continents and several consoles, any step towards a more open ecosystem is a win, and this is one, even if it is still only halfway there.
What do you think?
The promise is on the table, but the date is still up in the air and we do not know whether there will be differences between platforms. Does Playground's insistence convince you, or would you rather wait to see a specific day on the calendar before believing Forza Horizon 6 will reach PS5 this year?
