Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 6: The Weapon Meta Shifts Again

Season 6 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone kicks off and, as is tradition in Call of Duty, the change of season comes with a package of arsenal adjustments. According to Dexerto, the update includes a full list of weapons receiving improvements and weapons losing power, with changes affecting both Black Ops 7 multiplayer and Warzone's battle royale.

Why does it matter? Because in Call of Duty the meta is not an opinion: it is a list of weapons that dominate the lobby until a patch decides otherwise. Every round of buffs and nerfs forces competitive players to rebuild their loadouts, creators to produce new guides, and the whole community to spend weeks arguing over whether Treyarch and Raven got it right or overdid it again. Season 6 is no exception.

What you need to know

  • The Season 6 update includes balance adjustments to the weapons of Black Ops 7 and Warzone, as reported by Dexerto.
  • Some weapons receive buffs (improvements) and others get nerfs (cuts), meaning a rebalance in both directions rather than just a blanket cut.
  • The changes arrive with the season patch itself, so they take effect as soon as you update, with no time to adapt beforehand.
  • The detailed weapon-by-weapon list is available in Dexerto's original coverage; here we focus on what it means for our community.

What changes and who it affects

The first thing to understand is that Black Ops 7 and Warzone share an arsenal, but they do not share the same gameplay context. A weapon that dominates on small multiplayer maps, where fights are short and frantic, is not necessarily a problem at the long ranges and higher time-to-kill of Warzone. That is why the studios usually apply separate adjustments, and why a season patch always has to be read through two lenses: competitive 4v4 and squad play in the battle royale.

Buffs are the part the community welcomes most eagerly, because they tend to rescue weapons that had been gathering dust in the armory for a while. Nerfs, on the other hand, are what spark debate: when a weapon everyone was using loses power, some celebrate the variety while others feel their go-to tool has been taken away. With Season 6, both things happen at once, so it is time to review the entire inventory and take nothing for granted.

How to approach the patch if you compete or create content

From the editorial team's experience, there is a sensible way to digest every rebalance without losing your mind:

  1. Don't trust your loadout to memory. Head into the firing range and a couple of practice matches before jumping into ranked. What worked yesterday may have different recoil today.
  2. Tell a nerf apart from a death sentence. Many cuts are surgical and the weapon remains perfectly viable; dropping it on reflex is a common mistake.
  3. Look for the hidden buff. Weapons that level up in a patch usually take a few days to be discovered by the masses; that is where competitive advantage and fresh content are found.
  4. Separate multiplayer and Warzone. Build classes with each mode in mind, because the same adjustment can carry different weight in each one.

Our take

At Underworld Lordz we have watched the same cycle for many seasons and we have a clear stance: frequent rebalances are necessary, but the problem has never been the number of changes, it is how they are communicated and timed. Having buffs and nerfs land right at the start of a season, with no public testing period, is still the part that bothers us most. For a casual player it is a footnote; for a team that trains with fixed loadouts and for a creator with recorded guides, it means redoing work overnight.

That said, we prefer a meta that moves to one that stagnates. When an entire season is played with two weapons, the competitive scene becomes predictable and content dries up. The fact that Season 6 touches the arsenal in both directions is, in principle, good news: it opens the door for ignored weapons to find their place again and for players who master several setups to gain an edge over those who simply copy the loadout of whichever influencer is trending.

What we do ask, as an editorial team and as a squad, is patience before passing judgment. The community tends to declare a weapon dead or broken two hours after the patch, and the reality is almost always more nuanced. Give the meta a week, check it against the data, and then form an informed opinion. That is part of playing well too.

What do you think?

Season 6 is here and the Black Ops 7 and Warzone arsenal is being reshuffled once again.
