Battlefield 6 lands on Game Pass on October 13: the shooter arrives at no extra cost

Microsoft has revealed the next batch of games coming to Xbox Game Pass between October 8 and 16, and one name overshadows the rest: Battlefield 6 will be available to subscribers on October 13. EA's shooter will be playable via the cloud, on Xbox Series X/S and on PC for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, as reported by Gamereactor España, which in turn cites information first published by Eurogamer on October 7.

Why does it matter? Because a multiplayer shooter lives or dies by the size of its player base, and putting it on a subscription service is like pouring fuel on the fire. More people on the servers means faster queues, a wider variety of opponents and, for those of us who compete or create content, an audience that can suddenly try the game without paying full price. The recent Top Gun collaboration also shows that the game is determined to get people talking.

What you need to know

  • Battlefield 6 arrives on Game Pass on October 13 via the cloud, on Xbox Series X/S and on PC.
  • It is included in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
  • In total there are nine games between October 8 and 16, and seven of them are day-one releases.
  • Neon Abyss 2 will also be available to Game Pass Premium members.
  • At the same time, nine titles leave the service on October 15, including Clair Obscur.

The full schedule, day by day

The wave kicks off on October 8 and is spread across four dates. Battlefield 6 shares its day with two other releases, so October 13 is clearly the big day of the month for subscribers.

Rotation: what's coming in and what's going out

This batch follows the usual Game Pass logic: the catalog doesn't simply grow, it rotates. Alongside these additions, nine games say goodbye to the service on October 15. In other words, the net change in the number of titles is zero, although the weight of what comes in and what goes out isn't the same for every type of player. For anyone looking for a competitive multiplayer game, the arrival of Battlefield 6 more than makes up for any departures; for anyone halfway through an adventure that's leaving, it's a different story.

Another relevant detail is tiered access. Battlefield 6 stays in Ultimate and PC Game Pass, while Neon Abyss 2 is also open to Premium. It's one more sign that Microsoft is saving its biggest cards for the most expensive plans, something worth keeping in mind before renewing or switching subscriptions.

Our take

Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom we're certain: this is the news of the month for the Xbox and PC shooter community. A new Battlefield joining Game Pass instantly lowers the barrier to entry, and that's gold for building teams, organizing scrims and running internal tournaments without anyone being left out because of the price. If you were torn between buying it and waiting, the answer is now pretty obvious, as long as you already have the right plan.

That said, it's not all cause for celebration. For content creators, the flood of new players is a huge opportunity (guides, clips, first-match streams), but it also means competing for attention with far more people. Anyone who wants to stand out will need to offer more than just gameplay: analysis, squad strategy and real knowledge of the meta. And for competitive players, a wave of new accounts may bring unbalanced matches during the first few weeks while matchmaking settles down.

As always, the rotation also bothers us. Nine games leaving on the same day we celebrate the arrival of nine others is a reminder that on Game Pass nothing is ever truly yours. For a shooter built as a long-term live service that matters less, but it's worth remembering: a subscription rents, it doesn't give.
