Beast of Reincarnation Wraps Up Its Major Patch Cycle After Two and a Half Months

Game Freak, the Japanese studio everyone associates with Pokémon, has confirmed that Beast of Reincarnation is nearing the end of its major update cycle. The action RPG launched on August 4 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC, and barely two and a half months later the team is calling time on its phase of frequent patches. As reported by Vandal, the next update is scheduled for today, October 19, although the studio itself warns that the date could still shift.
This news matters more than it might seem. This was Game Freak’s first major project outside its flagship franchise in a long time, and how a studio looks after a game like this post-launch says a lot about its priorities. Wrapping up the period of intensive support so early can be read as a sign that the game is already where they wanted it, or as a shift of resources towards other projects. For anyone who plays seriously, the difference between the two is no small matter.

What You Need to Know
- Beast of Reincarnation launched on August 4 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
- The patch planned for October 19 will be the last of the current phase of major post-launch updates.
- The date for that patch isn’t final yet and could change.
- The announcement was made by Game Freak and publisher Fictions in a statement on Steam.
- The studio hasn’t ruled out releasing further fixes down the line.
What Changes and Who It Affects
Over the past few weeks, updates have been used to fix issues and polish various aspects of the game based on community feedback. That cycle of listening and adjusting is exactly what is now coming to an end. In the statement published on Steam, the developers put it plainly:
“We want to let you know that our current post-launch update cycle is coming to an end.”
In practice, anyone playing Beast of Reincarnation should assume that the state of the game after today’s patch will, broadly speaking, be final. If there are mechanics you’re not sold on, balance choices you find questionable or bugs that haven’t been fixed, chances are no substantial changes are coming. The door remains ajar for targeted fixes, but it’s best not to count on any major overhauls.
A Particularly Short Window
Two and a half months of intensive support is short by today’s standards, when many action games maintain roadmaps spanning several months or even years. It’s not a unique case, and not every title needs ongoing live service, but it does set it clearly apart from games designed as long-term platforms. Beast of Reincarnation seems to have been conceived as a self-contained experience, and its patch schedule confirms it.
Our Take
Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we have mixed feelings about this decision. On the one hand, we appreciate the transparency: clearly announcing that the period of major changes is over is far better than leaving the community waiting for patches that never arrive. Knowing where you stand lets everyone decide whether to keep putting in the hours or move on to something else. Sadly, that kind of honesty isn’t always common in the industry.
On the other hand, the timeframe feels tight to us. An action RPG lives and dies by its combat system, its balance and the sense that every build is viable. For competitive players, speedrunners or anyone looking to squeeze everything out of the endgame, development freezing this early means the community’s discoveries will no longer get an official response. If a broken strategy turns up, it’s here to stay. Some will see this as a stable meta, ideal for competing without the rules changing every week; others will see it as a missed opportunity to polish the game until it’s truly complete.
For content creators, the message cuts both ways: a stable game makes it easier to produce guides and tutorials that don’t go out of date, but it also means fewer moments of novelty to fuel videos and streams. With no patches to talk about, interest depends entirely on the community. And that’s where Game Freak has a lot at stake: its technical reputation has been under scrutiny for some time, and ending support this quickly won’t help put doubts to rest if issues remain unresolved.
What Do You Think?
Some players prefer complete, stable games, while others only stay hooked if there are constant updates. With Beast of Reincarnation entering its final patch phase, the question is simple: do you think it’s reasonable for Game Freak to wrap up major updates after two and a half months, or do you think the game deserved a longer support window?
