It's official: Doktor's Curse is returning to Rainbow Six Siege for its sixth edition. According to IGN Spain, which showed the official trailer during IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026, the event will run from October 15 to November 2. The premise is the same as always: Doktor's lab opens its doors, and this time it comes with new monstrous creations that promise to give the spooky season a fresh feel.

Why does it matter? Because Doktor's Curse has become a fixture on the Siege calendar and one of the few times a year when the game sets aside its tactical tension and fully embraces chaos. For the competitive community it's a breather; for content creators, it's a goldmine of clips. And the fact that it's reaching its sixth edition says a lot about how well it has landed with players.

What you need to know

  • Dates: the event kicks off on October 15 and ends on November 2.
  • Edition: this is the sixth installment of Doktor's Curse, unveiled at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026.
  • What's new: Doktor's lab debuts new monster-themed creations, as shown in the trailer.
  • Two roles: you can play as a hunter armed with your hammer or as prey looking for the best hiding spot on the map.
  • Setting: everything revolves around horror and Halloween aesthetics.

Hunters, prey and an unforgiving lab

The Doktor's Curse formula is easy to explain and hard to master. On one side are the hunters, who roam the map with a hammer as their main tool; on the other, the prey, whose only goal is to stay unnoticed for as long as possible. It's essentially hide-and-seek brought into the Siege universe, with everything that entails: breakable walls, sounds that give you away and a map you need to know inside out if you want to survive.

What's interesting is that, even though it's a festive mode, it rewards skills any serious Siege player will recognize: map awareness, sound management, patience and the ability to anticipate your opponent's moves. The trailer for this sixth edition puts the spotlight on the lab's new creatures, which suggests a visual and atmospheric shift compared to previous years. What the source doesn't specify is how much these additions will affect gameplay, so we'll have to try it from October 15 onward to find out whether this is a facelift or something deeper.

Who does it affect?

Everyone, really. For casual players, it offers a lighthearted way to have fun for a few weeks; for competitive players, an excuse to clear their heads between ranked matches; and for content creators, an ideal setting for challenges, community streams and viral moments. With a window of almost three weeks, there's plenty of time to make the most of it.

Our take

Here at Underworld Lordz, we're convinced that limited-time events are essential for a game with this many years behind it to keep its pulse going. Doktor's Curse works because it doesn't try to be something it isn't: it's a wild mode, full of humor and campy, cardboard-cutout horror, and that's fine. Plus, hide-and-seek forces you to learn the map like few other modes do, so plenty of players will come out of the event knowing corners and nooks they'd never looked at before.

That said, we're not going to act surprised. Six editions is a lot, and the risk of the event turning into a simple change of scenery is real. If Doktor's new creations are just a different skin on the same formula, the novelty will last only as long as it takes the community to watch the first clips. We'd like Ubisoft to use these events to truly experiment, with mechanics that change the pace of matches, not just new models that look good in a trailer.

For creators, though, it's a golden opportunity. Custom matches with the community, in-house hide-and-seek tournaments and hunter-versus-everyone challenges are easy to produce and always well received. And for competitive teams, a couple of laid-back sessions between practices never hurt team chemistry.
