Sony has also detailed what comes with the pre-order bonus and what the Digital Deluxe Edition offers. The game, the latest entry in the series, already had a release date: it arrives on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.

Here at Underworld Lordz, we're confident that God of War is a guarantee of quality, but we're equally sure that pre-ordering a game this far in advance, with no price or reviews in sight, isn't a good idea for most people. The announced extras are fine, nothing more. An armor set and a cosmetic alone don't justify buying early, and resource packs tend to be a short-lived boost: they speed up the opening and soon get absorbed into normal progression.

We're a little concerned about the trend of putting in-game resources into the pre-order bonus of a narrative game. If the experience is well balanced, those resources are unnecessary; if anyone misses them, that's a design problem. For those who play seriously, especially on high difficulties or in speedruns, the ideal would be the option to turn them off, something we'll have to confirm once the game is out.

That said, if you're a content creator, things are different. Pre-ordering guarantees you'll have the game from the very first minute, and in February 2027 the visibility window for those opening hours will be gold. Our advice: if day-one content is your thing, pre-order knowing exactly what you're paying for. If you just want to enjoy the adventure, wait for the reviews and the pricing. Kratos isn't going anywhere.
