GTA 6 reveals 12 new screenshots and Leonida looks more alive than ever

Rockstar Games has opened the door to Leonida once again, even if only a crack. As reported by Vandal, the studio has shared 12 previously unseen screenshots of GTA 6 through the British magazine Edge, which traveled to the Rockstar North offices in Edinburgh to put together an extensive feature on the game. The images show action scenes with Jason and Lucia, new corners of the map and a level of visual polish that, once again, leaves jaws on the floor.

The timing is no accident. Barely three weeks remain until launch, scheduled for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series, and every piece of material Rockstar releases gets analyzed down to the last pixel. For a community like ours, with competitive players and content creators spread across the Americas and Europe, these screenshots are more than just pretty wallpapers: they are the first real clue to how the game many of us will be spending the next few years in is going to look.

What you need to know

  • Twelve new images released by Rockstar through Edge magazine, as reported by Vandal.
  • Launch on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series, which is roughly three weeks away.
  • Protagonists in action: Jason and Lucia appear in a supermarket robbery, in car and motorcycle chases, and in a scene with Jason wounded.
  • Focus on detail: environments, facial expressions and a variety of situations while exploring Leonida.
  • Edge visited Rockstar North in Edinburgh to see the project firsthand.

What the screenshots show

According to Vandal's description, several of the images revolve around the lead duo. The most striking one recreates a supermarket robbery: Jason readies the getaway vehicle while Lucia walks out of the store with a gun in hand. It is a snapshot that sums up what the series has always been about, but with a level of production we have never seen in a GTA before.

The rest of the scenes keep the same tone. Lucia fires from the window of a moving car, the pair ride across Leonida on a motorcycle and, in another shot, we see Jason wounded. Beyond the action, the feature highlights the work put into the characters: believable facial expressions, carefully crafted lighting and a sense that every corner of the map has a life of its own, even in spaces that are not part of the main story.

A very carefully measured trickle of information

Rockstar has spent years rationing GTA 6 drop by drop, and this release follows the same strategy. Instead of a new trailer or a live gameplay demo, the studio opts for a specialist magazine and a batch of static screenshots. It is a way of feeding the conversation without showing the cards that really matter, such as final performance, how the driving handles or the online mode.

Our take

First things first: the images are spectacular, and it would be absurd to deny it. But here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, skepticism comes with the job. Screenshots handpicked by the studio itself for a magazine are, by definition, the best possible angle. They say nothing about frame rate, about stability on console or about whether all that detail holds up when there are twenty cars on screen and the police are chasing you across half of Leonida. Until we see the game running in the hands of real players, it is wise to keep the excitement in check.

For content creators, on the other hand, the message is clear: Leonida is going to be a clip machine. If the quality of the screenshots carries over to the game, every chase and every improvised heist will have a cinematic finish that sells itself on social media. Anyone looking to stake their claim in November should start preparing their workflow, formats and publishing schedule now, because the competition for attention in those first few weeks will be fierce.

For the competitive side of the team, the news leaves an obvious gap. Nothing shown says anything about multiplayer, and that is the ground where it will be decided whether GTA 6 is just a sales phenomenon or also a place to play seriously for years to come. Rockstar has three weeks to show us something in that direction. If it does not, the reading is simple: the launch will be one for the history books, and everything else will come later.

What do you think?

The screenshots promise an open world that borders on photorealistic, but the silence on performance and online remains. Do you trust Rockstar to deliver everything these images show on November 19, or would you rather wait to see the game in motion before getting your hopes up?
