PS Plus October 2026: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and EDF World Brothers 2 Now Available

October kicked off with a treat for PlayStation Plus members. As reported by GameSpot, since October 6 every member of the service can add three games to their library: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. It's a varied lineup that brings together Formula 1 simulation, one of the most demanding extraction shooters around and lighthearted co-op action against giant enemies.

Why do we care? Because at least two of these titles have a serious competitive side. F1 25 is the official game of motorsport's premier class, and in Hunt: Showdown 1896 every match is decided against other players. Having them arrive at no extra cost for the entire subscriber base could mean fuller servers, plenty of new faces and, for content creators, more than enough material for the month.

The three games, one by one

F1 25

Codemasters' Formula 1 games have become an annual fixture for racing fans, and this edition follows the same path. It builds on previous entries and includes the official 2025 grid, a full career mode, My Team 2.0 for single-player and F1 World, a mode that, according to GameSpot's description, pits you against a group of AI-controlled drivers.

Hunt: Showdown 1896

If you haven't tried it yet, brace yourself: it's an extraction shooter that doesn't forgive mistakes. Your goal is to track down bloodthirsty creatures, but you're not just racing against the clock, you're also up against other hunters chasing the same prey. Surviving, making the most of every tool at your disposal and getting out of the bayou alive is all that matters.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2

Earth is under attack once again, this time by gigantic enemies with a blocky look. The game brings together heroes from different entries in the EDF series and asks you to assemble a team to stop the new threats and save the planet.

Our take

For the Underworld Lordz editorial team, the gem of the month is Hunt: Showdown 1896. It's a game with a brutal learning curve, where sound, patience and map awareness matter just as much as aim. A flood of new players cuts both ways: veterans will find easy prey for a few weeks, and newcomers are going to have a really rough time. If you're a content creator, there's a clear opportunity here: beginner guides, fight breakdowns and commentated team matches will find an audience this month.

F1 25 is a different story. It arrives in October 2026, so its grid reflects the previous season, which takes away some of the appeal for anyone who wants the most up-to-date experience. Even so, as a way to start a community league or to practice without spending money, it's hard to find fault with it. EDF: World Brothers 2, on the other hand, doesn't try to be competitive: it's the classic game for a laid-back stream night with friends, and on that front it can deliver.

That said, keep the usual fine print in mind: PS Plus games are tied to keeping your subscription active. They're a nice perk, but they're no substitute for owning the game. If you get seriously hooked on Hunt, think long term.
