EA Sports has rolled out the third Team of the Week (TOTW) for EA Sports FC 27, and it comes with a headliner that's bound to get people talking: Temwa Chawinga, rated 90, tops a lineup that also features Martin Ødegaard and Viktor Gyökeres, both at 87. According to Vandal, the new batch is already live in Ultimate Team in Spain and around the world.

Why does it matter? Because we're in the first weeks of the FC 27 cycle, right when competitive squads are still being built and any upgraded card can shake up a starting XI. On top of that, the window is short: these special versions will only be available until Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 PM CEST. If any of them catch your eye, you only have a few days to make your move.

What you need to know

  • Chawinga (LM) is the highest-rated card in TOTW 3, with a 90 overall.
  • Ødegaard (CM) and Gyökeres (ST) round out the top three at 87 each.
  • The lineup mixes men's and women's football: Ellie Carpenter, Felicia Schröder and Jaedyn Shaw also get cards.
  • Fan-favorite veterans such as Luka Modrić (86) and Heung Min Son (83) are part of the team.
  • The cards are available for a limited time, until October 7 at 7:00 PM CEST.

TOTW 3 cards, one by one

Here is the list of confirmed players in the third Team of the Week, with their position and overall rating, as reported by Vandal:

STViktor Gyökeres87
CMLuka Modrić86
RBEllie Carpenter86
LMÁlex Baena84
CAMJoão Félix84
RBMichael Kayode83
STHeung Min Son83
STFelicia Schröder82
LMJaedyn Shaw82
STHenry Martín80

The source's list also mentions a goalkeeper, but the available excerpt doesn't give their name or rating, so we're sticking with the twelve confirmed cards.

What it means for your squad

Look at the breakdown by position and the pattern is clear: four strikers (Gyökeres, Son, Schröder and Henry Martín), three left midfielders (Chawinga, Baena and Shaw), two central midfielders, one attacking midfielder and two right-backs. There are no center-backs or left-backs among the confirmed cards, so this TOTW mainly boosts the attack and the left flank. If you're looking to shore up your defense, this week offers little beyond Carpenter and Kayode on the right.

The variety of leagues and player profiles is also worth noting. Having an established star like Ødegaard, a legend in the twilight of his career like Modrić and women's football standouts like Chawinga and Carpenter in the same batch opens up plenty of options for building hybrid squads with good chemistry, something that's always harder in the first weeks of the game.

Our take

Here at Underworld Lordz, we have no doubt: Chawinga is the card of the week, and not just because of her rating. The fact that a female player sets the ceiling for TOTW 3 shows that mixed Ultimate Team is no longer a novelty but a core part of the meta. If you play competitively and still ignore the women's leagues when building your squad, you're leaving performance on the table.

That said, we won't shy away from criticism. The limited-time format still works as a driver of impulse buying: seven days, shiny cards and the feeling that if you don't open packs now, you'll fall behind. Our advice for competitive players is simple: don't burn coins or money blindly. The market moves a lot at this time of year, and an 87-rated October card rarely holds its starting spot once later promos arrive. Prioritize cards that fit your current chemistry, not the ones that look best in a screenshot.

For content creators, on the other hand, this TOTW is gold: Modrić's name still drives clicks through nostalgia, Gyökeres and Ødegaard have market appeal, and Chawinga gives you the chance to show your audience something many haven't tried yet. Hybrid squads, TOTW card challenges and real in-match performance comparisons are formats that work far better than yet another pack opening.
