Wardogs gets serious: patch 0.1.2 closes exploits and threatens permanent bans

Bulkhead, the studio behind Wardogs, has released update 0.1.2 for its multiplayer shooter with a very specific goal: closing the exploits that let players inflate their in-game money and experience. As reported by PCGamesN, the patch goes beyond a simple technical fix. It comes with a clear change in tone about how the studio will treat anyone who takes advantage of these bugs.
Until now, players caught doing this for the first time could expect some understanding from the developers. That is over. Bulkhead has ended its period of leniency toward first-time offenders, so abusing an exploit can now result in a permanent suspension. For a game still at such an early version number, it is quite a statement of intent. It affects the in-game economy, the credibility of its progression and, in the medium term, any competitive ambitions it may have.

What you need to know
- Wardogs, Bulkhead's multiplayer FPS, receives update 0.1.2.
- The patch directly targets exploits related to money and XP.
- The studio announces that leniency toward first-time rule breakers is over.
- Anyone abusing these bugs now faces a permanent ban.
What changes and who it affects
The patch focuses on two key resources: money and experience. In any shooter with a progression system, these two values set the pace at which a player unlocks content and moves ahead of everyone else. When someone can multiply them by exploiting a bug, the damage is not limited to their own account. It undermines the sense that effort matters, and players progressing legitimately watch others overtake them without having put in the same work.
The most significant change, however, is not technical but a matter of policy. Moving from a tolerant stance to zero tolerance for first-time offenders changes the rules of the game for the entire community. The people most directly affected are, of course, those who have taken advantage of these exploits. But content creators should also take note: farming videos and guides that approach or cross the line of what is allowed could become a real risk to their viewers' accounts, and to the reputation of whoever publishes them.
Version 0.1.2 also says something about where the project stands. The version number suggests Wardogs is still in an early phase, and that the studio would rather set boundaries now, before certain practices become normalized and much harder to stamp out.

Our take
Here at Underworld Lordz, our view is clear: well done. Any game that aspires to a serious competitive scene needs clean progression, with advantages earned by playing. Economy and experience exploits are among the most corrosive problems a multiplayer game can suffer. They are not always visible in any single match, but they gradually wear down the community's trust. Stopping them early is far more sensible than trying to fix things once the damage is done.
That said, a tough stance has to come with transparency. The line between deliberately exploiting a bug and stumbling into one by accident is not always obvious, especially for new players. If the penalty is now permanent from the first offense, Bulkhead should clearly explain which behaviors cross the line and offer an appeals system that actually works. An unfair ban on an honest player causes almost as much uproar as a thousand cheaters going unpunished.
For content creators, the message is just as direct. Showing tricks to level up faster has always brought in views, but now the price could be your audience's accounts. Our advice: if you are unsure whether a method is legitimate, do not publish it until the studio clarifies.
What do you think?
Cracking down on exploits sounds good on paper, but everything will depend on how it is enforced in practice. Do you think a permanent ban from the first offense is the right way to protect Wardogs, or does it seem excessive without a solid appeals system?
