Cinema's most famous secret agent keeps racking up the miles in the world of video games. As reported by PC Gamer, 007 First Light is getting a free piece of downloadable content called Extended Operations. It brings two TacSim missions, a New Game+ mode, and a photo mode. However, the detail generating the most buzz is something else entirely: you'll finally be able to drive James Bond's Aston Martin the way it deserves.
Why does it matter? Because a free DLC with additions like these says a lot about a game that wants to stay installed on your drive long after the credits roll. New Game+ and the extra missions are aimed squarely at players who have already finished the campaign. The photo mode is an obvious gift for content creators. And the car is almost a matter of honor: a Bond who can't push his Aston Martin to the limit is like a martini stirred instead of shaken.

What you need to know
- It's free: Extended Operations comes at no extra cost for anyone who already owns the game.
- Two new TacSim missions: more playable content to give you a reason to put the tuxedo back on.
- New Game+: the campaign gains an extra layer of replayability.
- Photo mode: a tool for capturing the most cinematic moments.
- The Aston Martin, finally put to good use: according to PC Gamer, you can now drive Bond's car the way it should be driven.
What changes and who it affects
The source doesn't go into detail about exactly how the TacSim missions work or what the car's limitations were until now, so we're not going to fill in the gaps with guesswork. What is clear is the focus of the package: almost everything it adds is aimed at players who already know the game and want more. It's not a story expansion, but rather a set of tools and excuses to come back.
The key word in PC Gamer's headline is finally. If driving the Aston Martin properly is only arriving now, it's because at launch that experience didn't live up to what any fan of the franchise would expect. It's a course correction, and a welcome one, but it's also an implicit admission that something important was missing.
| New feature | Who benefits most |
|---|---|
| Two TacSim missions | Players who have already finished the campaign and are looking for new content |
| New Game+ | Completionists, speedrunners, and anyone who wants to replay from a different angle |
| Photo mode | Content creators, streamers, and the screenshot community |
| Drivable Aston Martin | Franchise fans who were waiting for the full Bond experience |
Our take
Here at Underworld Lordz, we're clear on this: the fact that all of this is free is good news and deserves credit. In an industry where every skin has a price tag and every extra mode is sold separately, giving away missions, New Game+, and a photo mode is a rare gesture. That said, we can't ignore that a photo mode and a properly implemented iconic car are things many of us were expecting from day one. Their late arrival feels a bit like a patch, no matter how nicely it's gift-wrapped.
From a competitive standpoint, New Game+ is the most interesting piece. Replayability modes tend to be the breeding ground for speedrunning communities and self-imposed challenges, and a spy game lends itself perfectly to that: optimal routes, clean infiltrations, runs without ever being detected. If the TacSim missions end up working as challenge scenarios, there's material here for community tournaments and for more than a few players to taunt their friends with impossible times. That said, we don't know yet how they're designed, so we're keeping our expectations in check.
For content creators, the photo mode is pure gold. Thumbnails, cover art, social media posts, and material to make clips stand out: everything looks better when you can freeze the scene and frame it exactly how you want. And don't underestimate the Aston Martin factor. Car chases are some of the most shareable moments a Bond game can offer, and if they finally feel the way they should, we're going to see a lot of clips making the rounds.
What do you think?
Extended Operations seems designed to extend the game's lifespan and give the community new reasons to come back, although it leaves the feeling that some of this content should have been there from the start. Do you see it as a generous gesture or a debt the game owed its players? Let us know in the team chat or drop by our Discord and let's talk it over.
