Deadpool in MW3? The Leaks Are Exciting, but Fortnite's Wolverine Is Still in the Vault

Call of Duty leaks are setting social media alight once again. As reported by The Loadout, everything suggests Activision could be preparing a Deadpool skin for Modern Warfare 3. The rumor comes at a very specific moment: Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters later this month, and many at Marvel see the film as the lifeline its cinematic universe urgently needs.

Why should you care if you're here to compete, not to go to the movies? Because collaborations with major franchises are no longer just window dressing. They drive the store, fuel battle passes, get people talking and end up shaping what you see in every lobby. The outlet also floats an idea that's hard to disagree with: if we're making wishes, it would rather see Fortnite bring back its Wolverine skin, which has been locked away in the vault for a very long time.

What you need to know

  • Recent Call of Duty leaks suggest a possible Deadpool skin for MW3. For now, there is no official confirmation.
  • The rumored collaboration would line up with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, due later this month.
  • The Loadout frames the film as a key bet for the MCU's immediate future.
  • Fortnite already had a Wolverine skin, but it has been unavailable for a long time and part of the community wants it back.

Context: crossovers as a market strategy

A military shooter like Call of Duty dressing its operators up as a comic book antihero no longer surprises anyone. The series has been opening the door to licensed characters for a while now, and every big release becomes a chance to fill the store with something players will want to impulse-buy. Deadpool fits that mold perfectly: he's irreverent, instantly recognizable and has a legion of fans who don't need much of an excuse to spend.

Fortnite, on the other hand, is the undisputed king of this space. Its model is built on constant collaborations and an item rotation that turns every skin into something that can disappear for months or even years. That's where Wolverine comes in: a cosmetic many players remember fondly and that, by the logic of the vault, still hasn't returned. With the movie in theaters, the timing to bring it back seems obvious, which is why it's surprising that the spotlight is on MW3 instead.

Who does this affect?

Casual players, mostly in their wallets. Competitive players, in something more delicate: visibility. Every flashy new skin reopens the age-old debate over whether a model helps or hurts when it comes to spotting enemies. And content creators, as always, get the good part: crossovers generate clips, reactions and thumbnails that practically sell themselves.

Our take

Let's break it down. A leak is not an announcement, and at Underworld Lordz we've seen too many cosmetic rumors come to nothing to take this as a given. If it happens, great, but it's best not to jump on the hype train too early, especially when there's a movie marketing campaign behind all this that benefits from us talking about it. Which, yes, is exactly what we're doing.

From a competitive standpoint, our position is clear: we don't care who the character is as long as the skin doesn't hurt game readability. A red suit can work against whoever's wearing it or blend right in depending on the map, and we'll only know once it's in the game. What we're asking for is that cosmetics be tested with competitive players in mind, not just buyers. No crossover is worth losing a round because you couldn't see an opponent.

As for Wolverine, we share the nostalgia. Fortnite's vault system makes sense for preserving item value, but when Marvel itself is pushing the character with a theatrical release, keeping him locked away looks more like stubbornness than strategy. For creators, a comeback like that would be gold: nostalgia content, comparisons and the perfect excuse to talk again about the best collaborations in battle royale history.

What do you think?

Deadpool might end up dropping onto the MW3 battlefield, or this might turn out to be just another leak. In the meantime, Wolverine is still waiting for his moment in Fortnite.
