It's official: Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PS5 on January 26, 2027. Microsoft and Playground Games have dated the open-world driving game's arrival on Sony's console, both digitally and as a physical edition. The game has been available on Xbox Series and PC since May 19, and its jump to PlayStation doesn't come empty-handed: it brings crossplay with the other versions and lines up with the launch of its first major expansion, which will be released on all platforms. The core information comes from Vandal.
Why does it matter? Because the most popular racing series in the Xbox ecosystem is no longer exclusive and is opening up to one of the largest communities on the market. For anyone who competes, creates content or just wants to cruise with friends, having everyone share the same servers and festivals completely changes the size of the playing field. And with the expansion arriving everywhere at once, no platform gets left behind.

What you need to know
- PS5 release date: January 26, 2027, in physical and digital formats, with pre-orders already open.
- Crossplay: the PS5 version will be able to play with Xbox and PC users.
- Three editions: Standard (€69.99), Deluxe (€99.99) and Premium (€119.99).
- Early access: the Premium Edition lets you play five days early, starting January 21.
- First expansion: arrives January 21 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC; its content has not been detailed yet.
Editions, prices and pre-order bonuses
The PS5 lineup follows the usual pattern for big releases: a base price and two higher tiers that add content and, in the case of the Premium Edition, the familiar early access. On top of that, all digital pre-orders include a tuned Ferrari J50, which unlocks once you complete the game's prologue.
| Edition | Price | Key perk |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | €69.99 | Base game |
| Deluxe | €99.99 | Expanded edition |
| Premium | €119.99 | Early access from January 21 |
There's a €50 gap between the Standard and Premium editions. According to the source, the most concrete perk of the priciest edition is being able to start playing five days early, an advantage that overlaps with the expansion's launch.
One expansion for everyone at once
The most interesting part of the announcement is the schedule. Playground Games has decided to release the first expansion on January 21 across all three platforms, the same day PS5 early access kicks off. That means veteran Xbox and PC players get new content right as the wave of newcomers arrives from PlayStation, and everyone starts from the same version of the game. That said, there are no concrete details yet on what the expansion will include.

Our take
Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we're clear on this: crossplay is the real news. A Horizon game with its community split by platform would be a waste; with crossplay, online events, ranked races and clan meetups instantly get bigger. For teams that run friendly tournaments or internal leagues, being able to bring together PS5, Xbox and PC players with no excuses is a blessing. For content creators, more players means a bigger audience interested in guides, tunes and routes.
That said, we also need to be critical. Once again, early access is being used as a hook to sell the most expensive edition, and in a game with an online component that has a real effect: five days' head start to explore, level up and discover the expansion before everyone else. Competitively, it's not a decisive edge, but it does create a gap between those who pay €119.99 and those who pay €69.99. And launching an expansion without showing what's in it yet, while pre-orders are already open, asks for a leap of faith we'd rather not have to take.
On the plus side, there's a physical edition, something that doesn't always happen with today's ports and that plenty of collectors will appreciate. Our recommendation: if you're coming from PS5 and aren't in a hurry, the Standard Edition is a perfectly solid way in. Wait to see what the expansion brings before jumping to the higher editions.
What do you think?
Crossplay is going to bring drivers from every platform together on the same roads, and the team is already thinking about joint events. Are you going to pay for the Premium Edition to get in five days early, or do you think early access should be scrapped for good? Let us know in the team chat or on our Discord.
