GTA 6 shows Leonida in the storm: 12 new screenshots a month and a half before launch

Rockstar Games is stirring things up again. Through Game Informer magazine, the studio has shared a dozen previously unseen official screenshots of Grand Theft Auto VI, as reported by Vandal. They show corners of Leonida we hadn't seen before, biker gangs, some weaponry and a solid look at the weather system, with a tropical storm stealing much of the spotlight.

The timing is no accident. There's roughly a month and a half left before the game lands on PS5 and Xbox Series on November 19, and at this point every image Rockstar drops becomes study material for millions of people. For those of us who make a living creating content and playing seriously, this is pure fuel: theories, pixel-by-pixel breakdowns and debates that will fill streams, videos and Discord channels right up to launch day.

What you need to know

  • 12 official screenshots released by Rockstar Games through Game Informer.
  • They show new areas of Leonida, bikers, weapons and weather effects.
  • One shot taken from a plane shows a tropical storm and a package that, according to Vandal, could hint at smuggling missions.
  • Lucia and Jason appear in everyday scenes, such as a day at the beach or a hiking trail.
  • Launch is still set for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series.

The details hidden in the images

Vandal zooms in on three specific screenshots that are worth a closer look. The first is the plane shot: besides storm clouds with impressively realistic detail, you can make out a suspicious-looking package in the scene. The outlet suggests it could be tied to drug trafficking missions. It's worth stressing that this is an interpretation, not something Rockstar has confirmed, although it fits perfectly with the criminal tone the series has always had.

The second image takes us to the beach. What stands out there isn't just the scenery, but the variety of things the non-player characters are doing, each with their own activity and behavior that looks natural. And in the middle is Lucia, modeled in such detail that you can see her ribs and tan lines on her skin. It's the kind of thing that seems trivial, but it says a lot about how far Rockstar is pushing the technical side.

The third screenshot is a bit of a decoy: at first glance it's just a natural landscape, but look closely and you'll spot Jason and Lucia out hiking. Even Jason's footwear has caught the community's attention, proof that no detail goes unnoticed in this game.

Weather that could change the game

Of everything shown, what interests us most from a gameplay perspective is the weather. A well-implemented tropical storm isn't just a pretty filter: if it affects visibility, driving or how you move around the map, it could change how you approach missions and, further down the line, any online mode. For now the screenshots only let us guess, so we'll have to wait to see it in motion.

Our take

Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we're clear on this: nobody masters the art of drip-feeding information like Rockstar. Twelve images a month and a half before launch are enough to keep the conversation going without showing too much. It's a smart strategy, but also a reminder that what we're seeing are carefully selected screenshots, not actual gameplay. The ribs and tan lines are impressive, but what will truly decide whether GTA VI lives up to the hype is how it plays, how it performs on console and how the world reacts when you push it to the limit.

For content creators, the outlook is very tempting. The sheer density of detail invites breakdown videos, secret hunting and mission theories, and whoever gets there first with quality content will have the edge. That said, we urge caution: selling speculation as fact, like the plane package, is the fastest way to lose credibility with your audience.

And a critical note for the competitive side of our community: the news only mentions PS5 and Xbox Series. PC players will keep watching from the sidelines, and that affects everything from the modding scene to how many teams and creators plan their content. We'd love for Rockstar to clarify its roadmap as soon as possible.
