Rockstar has shaken things up again. The studio has released 12 never-before-seen screenshots of Grand Theft Auto VI alongside an extensive Game Informer cover story, and what they show confirms the company isn't content with simply topping GTA V: it wants to redefine what we mean by an open world. According to the analysis published by IGN España, the images reveal sunburns that appear dynamically on characters, localized weight changes on their bodies and even pigeons fighting over scraps of trash in the street.
Why does it matter? Because every one of those details points to systems, not set dressing. Tropical storms that transform the environment, a hunting system carrying the spirit of Red Dead Redemption 2 with 170 animal species, deep weapon customization and NPCs running far more complex simulations. For those of us who live for competitive play and content creation, that means a sandbox with more variables, more unpredictable situations and, above all, a huge amount of material for clips, challenges and streams.

What you need to know
- Rockstar has revealed 12 new screenshots alongside an exclusive Game Informer cover story.
- Characters' bodies react to their environment and habits: dynamic sunburns and localized weight gain.
- A Red Dead Redemption 2-style hunting system arrives with 170 animal species.
- Weather takes center stage with dynamic tropical storms.
- New details emerge about the map of the state of Leonida, weapon customization, Snapmatic, social media and minigames.
A world designed to react
The big takeaway from these screenshots is that Rockstar is betting on systemic simulation. Pigeons squabbling over trash might seem like a cute bit of trivia, but they represent a philosophy: the world doesn't wait for the player to show up before it comes to life. The same goes for the NPCs, which according to the feature will display hyper-realistic behavior, and for a weather system capable of unleashing tropical storms that change the pace of play.
The state of Leonida is the stage for all of this, and the new details about its map reinforce the idea of a varied territory where hunting, weather and city life coexist. Including such an extensive hunting system, with 170 species, shows that the experience Rockstar gained with Red Dead Redemption 2 didn't stay in the Wild West: the studio is bringing it to its most popular series.
Weapons, Snapmatic and social media
On the gameplay side, deep weapon customization is the news that matters most to the competitive community, because it opens the door to different loadouts depending on each player's style. On top of that, there's the return of Snapmatic, in-game social media integration and a whole range of minigames, plus several easter eggs that IGN España's analysis spots in the images. Everything points to an ecosystem built so players don't just play, but also capture and share.

Our take
Here at Underworld Lordz, we're clear on this: the level of detail is impressive, but detail alone doesn't make a great game. Sunburns and localized weight look spectacular in a screenshot, and the question we're asking is how much they'll actually matter to the experience. If they're systems with real consequences, great. If they're just decoration, they risk turning into micromanagement that slows the pace, something Red Dead Redemption 2 was already criticized for back in the day.
For content creators, on the other hand, this is pure gold. A world full of systems that interact with each other creates one-of-a-kind moments, and that's exactly what fuels viral clips, long streams and community challenges. The combination of Snapmatic, in-game social media and dynamic weather looks like a toolkit built for content culture, and Rockstar knows it perfectly well.
Our main concern is on the competitive side: weapon customization looks promising, but everything shown so far is from story mode. What the competitive community needs to know is how all this will carry over to the online experience, with balance, stable servers and clear rules. Beautiful screenshots don't answer those questions, and until Rockstar addresses them, we're keeping our excitement grounded.

What do you think?
The images are stunning, but everyone values different things: some dream about the weather and hunting, while others only care about weapons and online play.
