Xbox's indie ecosystem is getting its own showcase once again. As reported by IGN Spain, IGN and Xbox have partnered up again to host a new edition of the ID@Xbox Showcase, which will air on October 20 and, according to the headline of the report itself, will feature 18 games. The promise is clear: exclusive announcements, brand-new titles and others that have been building hype for a while, all headed to Xbox and PC.
Why should you care if your thing is competing or creating content? Because big releases hog the spotlight, but many of the most loyal communities, the most viral speedruns and the best-performing stream formats are born precisely in indie territory. A showcase dedicated exclusively to these kinds of projects is a chance to spot, before anyone else, the next game that will fill up your chat or your ranked queue.

What you need to know
- Date: the broadcast is scheduled for October 20.
- Organizers: IGN and Xbox are teaming up again for this format.
- Content: 18 games, with trailers, gameplay footage and exclusive announcements.
- Platforms: the featured titles are coming to Xbox and PC.
- A mix of new and familiar: there will be new games as well as highly anticipated projects.
A showcase built for independent talent
ID@Xbox is the program through which Xbox opens its doors to independent studios, and this showcase acts as its big annual megaphone alongside IGN. The formula described by the source is the usual one for this kind of event: never-before-seen footage, gameplay to see the games in motion and the odd surprise saved for the broadcast. This isn't a conference about major franchises, but a space where small teams can gain visibility that would otherwise be incredibly hard for them to achieve.
The fact that the games are coming to both Xbox and PC is no minor detail either. For the Spanish-speaking community, spread across the Americas and Europe and with a huge PC player base, this broadens the reach of any announcement: you don't need a specific console to jump on whatever comes out of this showcase. If any of these 18 games has a multiplayer or competitive component, the barrier to entry will be lower than it usually is with exclusive releases.
What we don't know yet
The information available is, for now, pretty thin. The source's summary doesn't specify which genres will dominate, how many of those 18 titles will be completely new announcements or whether there will be concrete release dates. Nor does it mention whether any of them will come to subscription services. We'll have to wait until the 20th to find out, and it's best not to get carried away by rumors until then.
Our take
Here in the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we believe these kinds of showcases are by far the most interesting for anyone who experiences gaming through competition or content creation. The big presentations tell us what we already suspected; indie events, on the other hand, are where the weird ideas, the original systems and the games that end up becoming Twitch phenomena almost by accident show up. Paying attention on October 20 could make the difference between catching a wave early and arriving when everyone is already talking about it.
That said, we also have to be critical. Eighteen games in a single broadcast is a lot of material, and the risk with these formats is that everything goes by too fast: trailers just a few seconds long, pretty cinematics and little gameplay substance. We hope Xbox and IGN truly commit to the gameplay footage they're promising, because that's the only thing that lets a competitive player judge whether a title has mechanical depth or just looks good in a video.
For content creators, our advice is simple: make a list while you watch the broadcast, note down the games with potential for community streams and keep an eye out for demos or early access. Being among the first to cover an indie that takes off is one of the most effective ways to grow a channel without going head-to-head with the giants.
What do you think?
Indie showcases often hide a gem nobody saw coming, and this year doesn't have to be any different. We've already got October 20 marked on our calendar. What about you? Do you think this ID@Xbox Showcase will produce the next competitive indie we'll all be playing on the team, or are you just expecting flashy trailers? Drop by the team chat or our Discord and tell us which game you'd like to see announced.
