NVIDIA has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will ship with the full DLSS 4.5 package from the very first minute. And we're not just talking about the official launch: support will be live from the campaign early access, which kicks off on October 16 for everyone who has pre-ordered the game. The release for everyone else follows a week later, on October 23. The core information in this article comes from Vandal, which covered NVIDIA's announcement of the October games supporting its technology.
Why does it matter? Because Call of Duty remains one of the pillars of competitive shooters, and every new installment shapes how thousands of players will configure their rigs over the following year. Having AI upscaling, frame generation and latency reduction ready on day one means there will be no waiting for patches or miracle drivers to squeeze the most out of your hardware. In previous launches, that wait has been the rule rather than the exception.

What You Need to Know
- Early access on October 16: limited to the campaign and available to those who have pre-ordered the game.
- Official launch on October 23.
- DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution will be available to boost performance and image quality.
- Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 40 Series cards and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation up to 6X on the 50 Series.
- NVIDIA Reflex will work on all GeForce RTX cards to reduce latency.
What Each GeForce RTX Generation Gets
The announcement makes it clear that not every card will have access to the same features. NVIDIA is once again tiering its features by generation, so it's worth knowing what you get based on the graphics card in your system:
| Technology | What It Does | Who Can Use It |
|---|---|---|
| DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution | Improves performance and image quality | DLSS 4.5-compatible GPUs |
| Frame Generation | Increases perceived smoothness | GeForce RTX 40 Series |
| Dynamic Multi Frame Generation (up to 6X) | Multiplies the number of generated frames | GeForce RTX 50 Series |
| NVIDIA Reflex | Reduces latency | All GeForce RTX cards |
There's an important caveat: what you can play from October 16 is the campaign. That turns early access into a kind of testing ground. During that week you'll be able to fine-tune your graphics settings, see how your system holds up, and go into multiplayer on the 23rd with your homework done.
A Busy October for NVIDIA
Modern Warfare 4 isn't arriving alone. NVIDIA also pointed out that Gears of War: E-Day and Star Wars: Galactic Racer are already on sale and that both support DLSS 4.5. The strategy is obvious: tie its technology to the biggest releases of the quarter and be there from day one, not months later. For the company, every major release with native support is a selling point for its latest graphics cards, especially the 50 Series, which gets the flashiest feature of the announcement.
Our Take
Here in the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we're glad to see full support arriving from early access. We've been through too many launches where PC performance was a lottery for the first few weeks, and having everything integrated from the start is a good sign. For content creators, it's also a clear advantage: more performance headroom means more resources free for recording or streaming without the game taking a hit.
That said, competitive players deserve a straight answer. Frame generation, and even more so one that promises up to 6X multiplication, makes the image look smoother, but generated frames aren't real game frames and they don't make your inputs register any sooner. In a shooter where matches are won or lost by milliseconds, what really counts is Reflex and a high native frame rate. Our recommendation for ranked and tournaments is to prioritize Super Resolution and Reflex, and save frame generation for the campaign or casual matches.
The segmentation also rubs us the wrong way a little. Reserving the headline feature for the 50 Series makes commercial sense, but it pushes the conversation toward the most expensive hardware in a community, the Spanish-speaking one, where a huge number of people compete on previous-generation systems. The fair thing would be for the marketing not to sell frame multiplication as if it were synonymous with playing better.
What Do You Think?
Are you jumping into early access on October 16, or will you wait for the launch on the 23rd? And above all, when you're playing for real: would you turn on frame generation in a competitive match, or are you sticking with Reflex and native frames? Let us know in the team chat or on our Discord.
