The survivors craze just picked up a heavyweight. As reported by Vandal, Warhammer Survivors now has a release date: it arrives on November 10 for €7.49 on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC, iOS and Android. It will also be on Game Pass from day one, and PC players can already try a free demo. The developer is Auroch Digital, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, working alongside Games Workshop and poncle, the creators of Vampire Survivors.

Why does it matter? Because this isn't just another clone lifting the formula without permission, but a project involving the very studio that invented it. Add a license with a massive fanbase, an almost token price and a presence on practically every current platform. This is the kind of release that can dominate playlists, late-night streams and leaderboards for weeks.

What you need to know

  • Release date: November 10.
  • Price: €7.49.
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, Switch 2, PC, iOS and Android.
  • Game Pass: included from launch, with a free demo already available on PC.
  • Team: Auroch Digital in collaboration with Games Workshop and poncle.

Two universes against endless hordes

The game blends Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, bringing the franchise's grimdark future and dark fantasy together in a single title. The gameplay is exactly what you'd expect if you've played the genre: survive ever-larger waves of enemies while your character turns into a machine of destruction. Vandal highlights that the stages range from the scorched plains of Aqshy to the narrow corridors of an abandoned Space Hulk, with different factions and secrets in each area.

That contrast between stages matters more than it might seem. An open map and a corridor map call for very different movement and build strategies. If the design is done right, that could be the depth that separates a time-killer from a game you keep coming back to in order to optimize every run.

Auroch Digital's track record

With Boltgun, Auroch already proved it understands the Warhammer aesthetic and knows how to turn it into direct, unapologetic action. Having poncle on board as a collaborator is the best possible guarantee that the pacing, the progression and that sense of controlled chaos the genre is known for won't just be surface-deep.

Our take

Here at Underworld Lordz, we're clear on this: it isn't an esport and doesn't pretend to be, but that doesn't mean it lacks competitive potential. Survivors games thrive on high scores, broken builds and speedruns, and a license like Warhammer, with dozens of factions and units, is fertile ground for that optimization culture. If the game offers leaderboards and genuine variety between characters, we'll see the community tear it apart within days.

For content creators, the package is almost irresistible: a €7.49 price tag, Game Pass, cross-platform availability and mobile included. The barrier to entry for your audience is minimal, which means viewers who play while they watch you. That said, we're also critical: the genre is saturated, and what we've seen so far, based on Vandal's report, leans heavily on the license and the poncle name. It remains to be seen whether it brings fresh ideas of its own or whether we're just looking at Vampire Survivors in power armor.

Our advice is simple: if you're on PC, try the demo before November 10 and see whether the progression hooks you. Going into launch already understanding the formula is a huge advantage if you plan to make content or chase records from day one.

What do you think?

Warhammer and the poncle formula in one game, at a bargain price and on Game Pass. It sounds like a guaranteed hit, but the genre has already been heavily mined.
