Some crossovers you can see coming, and others make you rub your eyes in disbelief. This is one of the latter. As reported by GameSpot, 2K Games has announced a new DLC pack for WWE 2K26 that dresses up several WWE stars as Street Fighter action figures. And it's not just about outfits: each version comes with moves inspired by Capcom's series, from the Shoryuken to the Psycho Crusher. The announcement lands just ahead of the Street Fighter movie's release, scheduled for this very week.

Why does it matter? Because it confirms a trend that's no longer a coincidence: sports and fighting licenses have become showcases for crossover collaborations, and transmedia marketing is calling the shots. For anyone who plays WWE 2K seriously or creates content with it, the pack offers more than nostalgia: new animations, customization items and, above all, eye-catching visuals for clips and streams. That said, the offering has its quirks, and quite a few of them.

What you need to know

  • The WWE 2K26 X Street Fighter Elite Pack will be available starting October 28.
  • It's sold separately: it is not included in any existing bundle or premium edition of the game.
  • Pricing hasn't been revealed; GameSpot notes that character packs like this usually go for around $15.
  • It includes five wrestlers styled as Street Fighter characters and 15 Create-a-Superstar items.
  • The looks are inspired by Mattel's Elite Collection line of figures.

Who's who in the pack

The casting is curious, to say the least. Some choices make sense based on build or attitude; others look like they were pulled out of a raffle drum. Here's the full list according to the source:

Confirmed moves include the Shinku Hadoken, the Psycho Crusher, the Spiral Arrow, the Electric Thunder and the Shoryuken. On top of that, the 15 Create-a-Superstar items borrow elements from three other classic characters: Akuma, Vega and Chun-Li. In other words, anyone who wants to build their own street fighter will have the raw materials to do it.

The absence nobody understands

Here's where things get strange. Cody Rhodes plays Guile in the movie and, as GameSpot points out, has even dressed up as the character at live WWE events. Yet he doesn't get a skin in the pack. It's hard to explain why a crossover built to accompany the movie's release would leave out the one wrestler who's actually in its cast. Neither Guile nor his Sonic Boom makes the list.

Our take

Here at Underworld Lordz, we love it when games take risks, and seeing The Rock turned into M. Bison has a touch of genius we won't deny. Presenting the wrestlers as giant toys rather than realistic costumes is an original idea that gives the pack its own identity. For content creators it's gold: eye-catching thumbnails, absurd matches between a Ken and a Ryu who share the Mysterio surname, and clips that practically share themselves.

That said, we have to be critical. Leaving the pack out of every premium edition is a blow to anyone who already paid for the most expensive version expecting to get all the content. And although there's no official price yet, if it lands in the usual range we'll be talking about a significant outlay for five skins. For competitive players, the key question is whether these moves change anything in the balance of online matches or whether they're purely cosmetic with new animations. Until 2K clarifies that, it's worth holding off before reaching for your wallet.

Finally, the Cody Rhodes situation strikes us as a missed opportunity. If the goal is to ride the movie's wave, leaving out his Guile is practically a script error. We wouldn't be surprised to see him show up later in another paid pack, and frankly, that wouldn't be the best news for the community's wallet.

What do you think?

Crossovers like this can be a fun tribute or just another way to sell standalone content. We see a bit of both. Would you pay to see Rey Mysterio throw a Shoryuken, or do you think 2K should have included this pack in the premium editions? Drop by the team chat or our Discord and give us your verdict.
