The Halloween video game now has a release date for its first paid content: on October 27, a new look for Michael Myers arrives, inspired by Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, one of the least-loved entries in the series. That same day, a fifth map called The Tower Farm is added at no cost, based on a location from that same film. According to GameSpot, the bundle is rounded out by a second skin for the killer, two new survivors and a set of civilian costumes.
Why does it matter? Because it's the first clear sign of how Illfonic plans to monetize and support the game during its first year. The studio confirmed that this is just the first of several content drops, and choosing to kick things off with a lesser sequel shows that the plan is to mine the entire franchise, not just the classics. For competitive players and content creators, that means a steady stream of new content, but also an unavoidable question: how much will it cost to keep up?
What you need to know
- On October 27, the first paid DLC arrives alongside a free update.
- Two Michael Myers skins: one based on Halloween 5 and another on Halloween (2018), at $10 each.
- Two new survivors, Michelle and Eugene, sold together for $10.
- The Civilian Costumes Pack 1 includes 14 outfits (one per survivor) and 42 dyes, also for $10.
- The The Tower Farm map, inspired by Halloween 5, will be free for everyone.
What exactly arrives on October 27
The content is split between both sides. On the killer side, Michael gets two very different looks: the one from the fifth movie, an unusual pick given its poor reputation among fans, and the one from the 2018 legacy sequel, far more recent and recognizable to today's audience. On the survivor side, the arrival of Michelle and Eugene expands the roster, and the costume pack offers customization for every character with multiple color combinations.
Here's the price list as reported by GameSpot:
| Content | What's included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Michael Myers skin (Halloween 5) | Killer cosmetic | $10 |
| Michael Myers skin (Halloween 2018) | Killer cosmetic | $10 |
| Michelle and Eugene | Two new survivors | $10 (for the pair) |
| Civilian Costumes Pack 1 | 14 outfits and 42 dyes | $10 |
| The Tower Farm | Fifth map | Free |
A franchise with plenty to draw from
With 13 movies in the franchise, Illfonic has more than enough material to keep releasing maps, skins and characters for quite a while. Starting with Halloween 5 may seem odd, but it's also a statement of intent: no entry is off the table, however weak it may be.

Our take
Here at Underworld Lordz, we see two ways to read this. The good: the map is free, and that's what really matters for competitive play. A new map changes routes, hiding spots and strategies, and making it available to everyone equally avoids splitting the community between those who pay and those who don't. Credit to Illfonic for that.
The not-so-good: if you add up all the paid content, the first DLC already comes to around $40, and that's just the first of several drops planned for the year. The skins are cosmetic and nobody has to buy them, but the survivors are a different story: if Michelle and Eugene have their own traits or abilities, charging for playable characters starts to blur the line between customization and advantage. We'll have to see how they perform in matches before passing judgment, but it's worth keeping a close eye on.
For content creators, on the other hand, it's a gold mine. A new map is perfect for guides, route breakdowns and first impressions, and the contrast between the 1989 Michael and the 2018 version makes for great comparisons and eye-catching thumbnails. The pace of new content looks promising; as for our wallets, we'll see.
What do you think?
Do you think the price of this first DLC is fair, or is Illfonic pushing it too soon? And most importantly: would you pay $10 for two new survivors, or will you just take the free map and call it a day? Let us know in the team chat or on our Discord.
