Nobody gets left behind for playing on one machine or another, and PS5 users who go for the Premium edition will be able to dive into the new content from day one. Our take

Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we welcome the decision not to fragment the community. Having the expansion release on the same day on Xbox, PC and PS5 means friend groups spread across platforms will be able to talk about the same content at the same time, and that is gold for those of us who make a living generating conversation. For creators, it also opens a very attractive window: the game's PlayStation debut coinciding with a brand-new expansion is exactly the kind of moment where a well-planned video can capture two audiences at once, the veteran and the newcomer.

That said, we are not going to applaud an announcement that is, in essence, a date on a calendar. Announcing an expansion with no name and not a single image feels more like a marketing strategy to push the Premium edition on PS5 than communication designed with players in mind. And that is our biggest complaint: tying day-one access to the most expensive edition turns those five days into a toll. For the competitive player who wants to master a new map from the start, or for the creator who needs to be among the first to publish, that difference weighs more than it seems.

What we really want to know is whether the expansion will bring anything with competitive longevity: new routes, different race conditions or modes that last more than a couple of weeks in clan playlists. If it ends up being a pretty region and a handful of cars, the hype will last about as long as the first weekend.
