Gran Turismo 7 adds the Xiaomi Vision GT for free: Spec IV kicks off on October 15

Gran Turismo 7 keeps piling on free content. As reported by Vandal, Polyphony Digital has now set a date for the first instalment of Spec IV: October 15. The update brings the Xiaomi Vision GT, an electric prototype developed together with the Chinese brand, which has just debuted its own trailer. It also adds new cars from Ferrari, Citroën, Honda and Mazda. Even so, the biggest part of the package isn't a car but a circuit: Sportsland SUGO.

Why does it matter? For anyone who races seriously, every new track in GT7 means reshuffling practice sessions, finding new reference points and redoing setups. On top of that, the electric Vision GT comes with challenges designed exclusively for this type of vehicle, which hints at where Polyphony wants to take some of its content. And all of this at no extra cost.

What you need to know

  • The first part of Spec IV arrives on October 15 and includes the Xiaomi Vision GT as a free vehicle.
  • The package adds cars from Ferrari, Citroën, Honda and Mazda, although the headline addition is the Sportsland SUGO circuit.
  • The second part of Spec IV is scheduled for December and will bring Autumn Ring, among other changes.
  • Xiaomi's Vision GT was unveiled at the Gran Turismo World Series 2026 Round 3 in Singapore, with Kazunori Yamauchi on stage.
  • There will be challenges for electric vehicles open to both the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and the new Vision GT.

Spec IV, in two stages

Polyphony has decided to split Spec IV into two instalments a few weeks apart. That way, the game will have fresh content for much of the last quarter of the year. Here's the breakdown known so far:

InstalmentDateHighlights
Part oneOctober 15Sportsland SUGO, Xiaomi Vision GT and cars from Ferrari, Citroën, Honda and Mazda
Part twoDecemberAutumn Ring and other changes

Quite a lot is already known about the first part. The second, on the other hand, has barely any details beyond Autumn Ring. Spreading the content out like this keeps the conversation around the game alive, but it also leaves the community waiting without really knowing what will arrive in December.

Xiaomi makes a grand entrance

The reveal was no accident. Kazunori Yamauchi, the series producer, and the head of design at the Xiaomi Europe R&D and Design Center showed off the car in the middle of the World Series in Singapore, in front of Gran Turismo's most competitive audience. It's a clear way of saying this Vision GT doesn't want to be just a collector's car: it wants a place in the scene.

The EV challenges, which the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will also take part in, reinforce that idea. They mainly matter to players who take the game's events seriously and to creators who make a living testing every new car the moment it drops. For a brand that many people still associate with phones rather than cars, it's a huge showcase.

Our take

Let's cut to the chase: Sportsland SUGO is the real news. A new circuit means new racing lines, new braking points and weeks of trial and error hunting for the ideal setup. For our drivers, it's equal parts work and fun. For content creators, it's the best thing that could happen: first laps, racing line guides and lap time comparisons that viewers look for from day one.

We're more cautious about the Xiaomi Vision GT. It being free is great, but Vision GT cars have often been more design showcases than competitive tools, and EVs have never fully won over the more purist side of the community. The question is whether this car will play a real role in events or end up as a very pretty piece for taking photos in Scapes mode. And another question: do these challenges add anything to the gameplay, or are they, deep down, just advertising with a steering wheel?

That said, Polyphony's approach still deserves applause. A launch title that, years later, is still getting circuits and cars at no extra cost is not something you see often. And the arrival of Autumn Ring in December will strike a chord with series veterans. If Polyphony delivers on that second part, Spec IV could be one of the most complete updates the game has had.
