Legion Go 2 tops €3,100: the gaming handheld that doubled in price in a year

As reported by Vandal, the most powerful configuration of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 (AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD) is now listed at around €3,100 on Lenovo's official store in Spain. That's a hard number to swallow for a device that went on sale just over a year ago and that, on paper, competes with handheld consoles, not with enthusiast-grade desktop PCs.

The trend isn't limited to Spain. In the United States, the same model has gone from $1,480 at launch in September 2025 to $3,081.99 today, according to Notebookcheck data cited by Vandal. That's more than double. For anyone who competes, practises away from home or creates content on the go, this completely changes the question of whether a handheld with the heart of a PC is still a sensible purchase.

What you need to know

  • The Legion Go 2 with a Ryzen Z2 Extreme, 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage costs around €3,100 on Lenovo's official Spanish website.
  • In the US, the same configuration has risen from $1,480 to $3,081.99 since its launch in September 2025.
  • That's an increase of more than 100% in just over a year.
  • It wasn't a single jump: a few months ago it was already selling for $2,849.
  • The story concerns the most powerful version, the one that appeals most to players chasing maximum performance.

The climb, number by number

What stands out isn't just the final price, but how it got there. The increase came in stages, with a first big jump followed by a further adjustment that finally pushed the device past the 3,000 mark. These are the US prices reported by the source:

Today$3,081.99

The picture in Spain is similar: Vandal puts the price at around €3,100 and describes it as double what it cost at launch. In other words, the European market hasn't escaped the trend already visible on the other side of the Atlantic.

Who it affects and why it hurts

The affected configuration is exactly the one chosen by the most demanding users: the one that promises to handle the most demanding games away from the desk and offers plenty of space for huge libraries, recordings and clips. That profile closely matches many members of our community: people who play a lot, move between tournaments, travel and home, and often record or stream what they do.

The available information doesn't explain the reasons behind these increases, so it's best not to jump to conclusions about the causes. What is clear is the effect: a product that was sold as a versatile alternative now demands an outlay that forces you to compare it with devices in a very different category.

Our take

Let's be clear: more than €3,000 for a handheld console makes no sense for the vast majority of competitive players. In competition, what matters is stability, low latency, a good high-refresh-rate monitor and reliable peripherals. You get that at a desk, not on a handheld screen. A handheld is a fantastic companion for gaming on the road or practising specific mechanics, but it should never be the main tool for anyone who wants to climb the ranks or compete seriously.

For content creators, the equation doesn't improve either. Recording or streaming from a handheld device is possible, but it remains a niche use case. With that budget, it's hard to justify over investing in a solid desktop PC, a good capture card or a decent microphone, which is what your audience will really notice.

And there's a deeper criticism: doubling the price of a product in just over a year through successive increases mainly punishes those who didn't buy at the right moment. Our advice is simple: if you already own one, enjoy it; if not, don't buy out of fear that the price will keep rising, look at more modest configurations and compare carefully before spending that kind of money.
