Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls now has its first year mapped out. According to Vandal, Sony and Arc System Works used the EVO France 2026 stage to confirm three new fighters: Thor (Jane Foster), Venom and Jubilee. All three will join the roster over the course of 2027 as paid downloadable content. The announcement came with a trailer focused on Jane Foster, who appears wielding Mjolnir in the polished visual style that has already become the studio's trademark.

The news matters because it completes the game's first season pass. Alongside Phoenix Cyclops, who had already been announced, we now know every additional character in that pass. For a team-based fighting game that launched in August on PS5 and PC, having a clear roadmap is key. Competitive players can plan ahead, tournament organizers know what to expect, and content creators have a schedule to work around.

What You Need to Know

  • Marvel Tokon adds three new fighters: Thor (Jane Foster), Venom and Jubilee.
  • All three will arrive during 2027 as paid DLC.
  • The announcement was made at EVO France 2026, with a trailer starring Jane Foster.
  • Phoenix Cyclops will be the first to arrive, on November 2.
  • These four names complete the character content for the first season pass.

The First Season Pass at a Glance

Arc System Works is following a well-known model in the genre: a base release followed by a yearly pass that gradually expands the roster. The difference is that this time the developer has chosen to reveal every name well in advance instead of trickling them out one by one. Here is the schedule confirmed so far:

CharacterReleaseFormat
Phoenix CyclopsNovember 2Paid DLC
Thor (Jane Foster)2027Paid DLC
Venom2027Paid DLC
Jubilee2027Paid DLC

Phoenix Cyclops is a version of the X-Men leader empowered by the Phoenix Force, which adds an interesting twist to a character usually associated with optic blasts. For the other three, there are no specific dates beyond the year for now. We'll have to wait to find out in what order they'll release and how far apart they'll be.

A Highly Varied Lineup

The chosen names mix very different profiles. Jane Foster as Thor appeals to fans of more recent comics. Venom is one of the most recognizable villains in the entire Marvel universe and is almost guaranteed to draw interest beyond the hardcore audience. Jubilee is a more nostalgic pick, tied to the '90s X-Men and the franchise's classic fighting games. It's a mix designed to please very different audiences.

Our Take

Here at the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we value transparency. Knowing right now who completes the pass lets players decide whether it's worth buying and lets teams anticipate how the meta might shift. In a team-based game, each new fighter doesn't just add a character: it adds synergies, assists and combinations that can break what works today. Venom in particular has every chance of becoming a pressure character that gets a lot of attention at tournaments.

That said, there are also reasons to be critical. With three of the pass's four characters not arriving until 2027, much of the first year will rely on a single addition. A freshly launched fighting game needs to keep its community engaged, and long content droughts can take a toll on the online scene. On top of that, the paid character model remains a point of debate in competitive play: players who don't pay are at a disadvantage when it comes to practicing with the character themselves, even if they can still fight against it.

For content creators, the schedule is an opportunity. Each release opens a window for guides, combos, tier lists and matchup breakdowns. Our advice is clear: lay the groundwork with Phoenix Cyclops in November and use the following months to build an audience around the game before the biggest names arrive.

What Do You Think?

Four characters, a set schedule and a long wait until 2027. Are you sold on Marvel Tokon's first pass, or does it feel like too little content for a whole year? Let us know in the team chat or on our Discord: which of the new fighters do you think will dominate tournaments?
