There's no turning back now: Rockstar Games has just dropped the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, the piece that traditionally marks the home stretch before a game hits store shelves. As reported by Vandal, the video runs 90 seconds and mixes never-before-seen sequences with gameplay footage from this open-world adventure, which launches on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Why does it matter? Because this is the release that has half the industry on the edge of its seat. Every frame Rockstar puts out gets picked apart for days on social media, forums and livestreams, and this trailer arrives with only a few weeks left before we can play. For the competitive community and for those of us who make a living creating content, this isn't just another video: it's the starting gun for the most intense season of the year.

What You Need to Know
- Release date and platforms: GTA VI arrives on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series.
- Trailer format: 90 seconds combining new scenes and gameplay, captured on PS5.
- Story: Jason and Lucia get caught up in a criminal conspiracy that spans the entire state of Leonida after a heist goes wrong.
- Music: the track is Flower in a Hurricane by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
- Physical soundtrack: the song is part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, available on CD and vinyl.
Two Against the World
The synopsis shared by Rockstar, as picked up by Vandal, hammers home one central idea: Jason and Lucia know the odds are stacked against them. A job that should have been simple goes sideways and pushes them into the darkest side of the sunniest corner of the United States. From there, the plot spreads across all of Leonida, and the pair have to rely on each other like never before if they want to survive.
It's an approach that moves away from the lone protagonist and bets on the dynamic between two characters. If Rockstar nails that relationship, it could be one of the game's biggest narrative hooks, as well as an endless source of moments for clips, reactions and community theories.
Music as a Statement of Intent
The trailer's other big star is its sound. Justice, the electronic duo behind GTA VI's original score, is responsible for the chosen track, and the list of collaborators is an eye-catching one: Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The fact that there's an official album on sale in physical formats makes it clear that Rockstar wants the music to go beyond the game and become a cultural product in its own right.
Captured on PS5
A detail that's far from minor: the video was captured on PlayStation 5. That means what we're seeing should be close to what we'll actually get on screen on console, which is always welcome when marketing for big releases tends to show idealized versions.
Our Take
Here in the Underworld Lordz newsroom, we're convinced GTA VI is going to dominate the conversation for weeks, and that's a huge opportunity for content creators. The first few days after launch tend to bring the biggest audiences, so if you stream or make videos, now's the time to start planning your schedule, thumbnails and formats. On top of that, the trailer offers plenty of material for frame-by-frame breakdowns and story theories.
That said, we also want to keep our feet on the ground. A 90-second trailer, no matter how well edited, is still marketing. What really matters to us as competitive players is how the game handles on a controller, how well it runs on each console and what kind of online offering will come with it. This video says nothing about any of that, and until we actually get our hands on the game, it's wise not to buy into the hype completely.
Another sore point: the source only mentions PS5 and Xbox Series. For a community like ours, with lots of people who play on PC, that leaves a significant part of the audience watching from the sidelines. We understand it's Rockstar's strategy, but it's still a thorn in the side for those who compete and create content on PC.
What Do You Think?
