Star Wars: Galactic Racer Doubles Its Online Parties: From 3 to 6 Racers After Launch

On the very day Star Wars: Galactic Racer hits store shelves, October 6, Fuse Games already has one of its first major tweaks lined up. As reported by Vandal, the studio has confirmed it will increase the maximum party size in online races from three to six players. In other words: you'll be able to hit the track with twice as many friends as you can today.

It might seem like a minor detail, but it isn't. In a racing game built around multiplayer, being able to jump in with your whole crew is the difference between organizing a night of friendly rivalry with the community and having to split people up across several lobbies. On top of that, the change answers a request players had already made before launch, which is a sign the studio has been listening from minute one.

What You Need to Know

  • Star Wars: Galactic Racer goes on sale today, October 6.
  • Right now, online multiplayer parties are capped at three players.
  • Fuse Games is working on an update that will raise that cap to six players.
  • The studio confirmed it in a reply to a user on X and is targeting the first few weeks after launch, with no specific date for now.
  • With the change, six slots in a single multiplayer race can be filled by members of the same party.

What Changes and Who It Affects

The difference is simple to explain, but it has a big impact on how the game's online mode plays out:

The biggest winners will be groups of friends and organized communities: clans, teams, Discord servers and content creators who want to play with their followers. With a cap of three, any meetup of even modest size forces people to split up, queue separately and cross their fingers hoping to land in the same race. With six, a big chunk of the grid can be people who know each other, and that completely changes the atmosphere: more head-to-head rivalry, more trash talk and races that are far more fun to watch.

That said, there's one caveat worth keeping in mind: Fuse Games hasn't given a firm date. It's talking about the first few weeks after launch, a reasonable window for a patch like this, but one that leaves room for delays if other, higher-priority issues crop up during launch.

Our Take

At Underworld Lordz, we're clear on this: it's good news, but also a slap on the wrist. It's great to see the studio react so quickly to what the community is asking for, and not every development team does. But it's also true that the three-player limit had already been flagged before launch, and the game is shipping with that restriction anyway. In 2026, launching a racing game with online ambitions and parties this small falls short, and fixing it after the fact doesn't erase the bad first impression for anyone who wants to jump in today with their crew.

For competitive players, the change cuts both ways. On one hand, it makes group practice, internal scrims and preparing team-versus-team showdowns easier. On the other, having a large part of a race filled by the same party opens the door to dynamics that will need watching in open matchmaking, such as coordinated play against strangers. None of this has been confirmed as a problem, but it's exactly the kind of detail serious players will scrutinize closely when the update lands.

For content creators, on the other hand, it's almost all upside. Six slots per party means streams with viewers, community challenges and races with more chaos and more storylines. If Fuse Games delivers within the promised window, Galactic Racer could gain a lot of traction on streams during its first month, right when it matters most.

What Do You Think?

Is it enough for the studio to fix this in a few weeks, or do you think the game should have launched with six-player parties already? Are you going to wait for the patch to dive in with your team, or are you jumping in today?
